Who are you?
We are a genre-defying trip-hop duo formed during the autumn of 2020 amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.
While studying Audio Engineering in Dubai, we (Vishnu
Prakash and AERIK KYLO) merged our talents to create a dark, melancholic, and slow-paced sound that transcends geographic, cultural, and musical boundaries.
Drawing influence from 1990s trip-hop legends like Massive Attack, Lamb, Portishead, and Tricky, PHNX adds our unique cultural blend to the mix, making our sound both familiar and refreshingly distinct.
We frequently collaborate with our talented friend Aarti Venkat i Dubai, whose classical Hindustani vocal training and soft-rock preferences beautifully complement our dark and industrial trip-hop sound.
Our track "Save Me" is much more than just a song—it's a project born from personal experience and research, designed to raise awareness about mental health struggles.
Drawing from conversations with friends, family, and our own battles, we composed this song to evoke the emotional weight of depression, with the hope of normalizing discussions around mental health.
We hope to connect with listeners who have experienced depression, offering them reassurance, and with those who seek to better understand what their loved ones may be going through.
Where are you from?
We are a truly international producer duo from tropical Kerala, India and arctic Lofoten, Norway, respectively.
Our track “Save Me” was produced in the Arabian desert in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and mixed in a 200 year old traditional fisherman's cabin on the Arctic Lofoten Islands in Norway.
