Who are you?
I’d describe myself as an adaptable and evolving artist. I’ve been making music since the pandemic — that’s when I first got into producing. I started by creating and selling type beats online, but when that didn’t take off the way I hoped, I shifted my focus toward making original compositions I could release on streaming platforms.
My first project was under the name SCXTT, where I explored a more chill side of myself, producing lofi and relaxing tracks. That journey was super fulfilling — I got to connect with the lofi community online, and they were some of the most respectful and chill people I’ve met. From 2022 to 2024, I consistently uploaded music under that name, and eventually released my first and last lofi album, Presence. After that, I hit a creative block and decided to take a short hiatus.
Now I’m back with a new moniker — SCXTTALYST. It’s a combination of my name "SCXTT" and the word "catalyst," which represents transformation and movement. With this new identity, I’ve shifted my sound as well. I’m now diving into jazz phonk — blending jazz samples with trap and phonk elements. I kicked things off with my debut track under SCXTTALYST called BEFORE DAWN, which really set the tone for what’s next. This new chapter feels more raw, expressive, and true to where I’m at creatively right now.
Where are you from?
My name is Scott, and I’m from Bulacan, Philippines. The music scene here is mostly centered around local genres, and to be honest, there aren't a lot of prominent artists coming out of my area. But that doesn’t really bother me — if anything, it motivates me more to carve out my own path and bring something fresh from where I’m from. Shoutout to anyone from Bulacan chasing their creative dreams — we’re out here making it happen.
